THE number of heronries on which reports for 1947 were received at the Edward Grey Institute was 158, or 13 less than in the previous year. Of these 122 were in England, 6 in Wales, 11 in Scotland and 19 in Ireland. We are indebted to 63 informants, of whom a number have collected information from friends and correspondents. Mr. R. A.
