Recent research on wintering yellow wagtails Motacilla flava/tschutschensis in Sri Lanka has shown the majority to be Eastern Yellow Wagtails M. tschutschensis (M. t. tschutschensis, M. t. plexa and possibly M. t.macronyx), with smaller numbers of [Western] Yellow Wagtails M. f. lutea (Allport et al. 2021).
