New breeding birds
From Scotland comes the exciting news of a new British breeding species: two pairs of Lapland Buntings Calcarius lapponicus each reared four young at one site and a total of five males and one female were found at three other localities. Shore Lark Eremophila alpestris was also 'proved' (even for the purists!) in 1977, by the finding, at long last, of a nest with eggs. Perhaps
