ON January 4th, 1950, we were standing in the road beside Bolney Grange Ltd., Hurstpierpoint, Sussex, watching about 30-40 WoodPigeons (Columba palumbus) feeding under a tree, when we heard the harsh calls of Carrion Crows (Corvus corone). We looked up, and flying across the road in a distressed manner was a WoodPigeon, being harassed by two Carrion Crows, one of which had a pigeon's feather in it...
