Egret in mid Atlantic. On 21 st November 1984,1 was on board HMS Sirius sailing from Newfoundland, Canada, to Plymouth, Devon. When about 1,500 km west of Cornwall, at approximately 50°N, an egret Egretta Bubulcus circled strongly around the ship for part of the day, occasionally trying to land, but each time changing its mind at the last moment. The egret had wholly white plumage, a bright yello
