On 16th November 2022, while birding at Idle Valley Nature Reserve, north Nottinghamshire, I observed two immature or non-breeding Great White Egrets Ardea alba standing in shallow water; both were upright, facing each other. One bird had yellow running the full length of its tibia, while the other had a smaller amount of yellow, about 5 cm long, that ran down the tibia from the feathere
