Abstract A claim of Slender-billed Curlew Numenius tenuirostris from Avoch, in Easter Ross (Highland), on 25th February 1960, was reviewed by BBRC at the time and the identification found to be not proven. A feather from the bird was rediscovered during the digital archiving of BBRC files and a genetic analysis was carried out. This confirms that, as suspected, the bird was a Eurasi
