Hen Harrier with rufous-orange underparts
A large harrier Circus with rich rufous-orange underparts was present on Fair Isle, Shetland, from 25th August to 8th October 1982. It was a large, heavy ring-tail, whose silhouette at times recalled Marsh Harrier C. aeruginosus. It was clearly too heavy for Montagu's Harrier C. pygargns, and its unpatterned face ruled out that species and Pallid Harrier
