A nationwide initiative to increase the monitoring of breeding Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers Dryobates minor began in 2015, organised by the Woodpecker Network. Volunteers are encouraged to look for Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers in spring and to find and monitor the nests.
