Curlew breeding success
An upward trend in the number of Eurasian Curlew Numenius arquata chicks fledged has been noted across five sites in Britain and Ireland. The breeding success has been accredited to the Curlew LIFE project (www.rspb.org.uk/media-centre/hope-for-curlew-as-more-chicks-recorded), which has focused efforts on restoring Curlew numbers in the Hadrian’s Wall and RSPB Geltsdale area, Cumbria/Northumberland; the Antrim Hills and Lough Erne lowlands, Co. Antrim/Co. Fermanagh; farmland around Conwy, Caernarfonshire/Denbighshire; and RSPB Insh Marshes, Highland.
