In Ian Carter’s excellent article on the Red Kite reintroduction in the August edition (Brit. Birds 112: 422–426) he stated that ‘The birds now present do not carry wing-tags’. I understand that he is talking in the context of the Chilterns release birds specifically and while I believe there is currently no wing-tagging of new birds in that area, it is perhaps a little misleading in that people may think that no Red Kites are currently being tagged in the south of England or that they will not see a Red Kite with a wing-tag (which is not the case).
